Easy Chicken Pakora Recipe
This Easy Chicken Pakora recipe features tender chicken pieces coated in a spiced chickpea flour (besan) batter and fried until crispy and golden. Naturally gluten-free and halal-friendly, these pakoras are a perfect crunchy snack for Ramadan iftar. Can be deep-fried or air-fried for a lighter version.

1 Mixing bowl
1 Deep frying pan or pot
1 Slotted spoon
1 - Paper towels
- 1 lb Boneless chicken breast or thighs cut into small cubes
- 1 cup Chickpea flour Besan
- 1 pcs small onion thinly sliced
- 1 green chili finely chopped (optional)
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
- 1 tsp Coriander powder
- ½ tsp Turmeric
- ½ tsp Red chili powder
- ½ tsp Garam masala
- 1 tsp Salt
- 2 tbsp Chopped fresh cilantro
- ½ cup Water as needed
- Oil for frying
In a bowl, combine chickpea flour, spices, salt, and cilantro.
Add sliced onions and chicken pieces.
Gradually add water until thick batter forms (not runny).
Heat oil over medium heat.
Drop spoonfuls of batter into hot oil.
Fry 4–5 minutes, turning occasionally, until deep golden brown.
Remove and drain on paper towels.
Extra Crispy Tip: Add 1 tablespoon rice flour to batter. Freezer Tip: Freeze after frying and reheat in air fryer at 350°F for 5 minutes. Kid-Friendly: Skip green chili and reduce red chili powder.
